Re: battery life in linux for vt models

Wireless works fine for me without the backports driver. It didn't with Ubuntu 9.10 default kernel, but I use the 2.6.33 kernel from ubuntu mainline kernel ppa.

Just FYI.

Just a quick email to say that powertop is indeed a miracle worker.

Using the karmic-backports to fix the wireless problem had made it work full strength all the time. Powertop showed me how to activate the power management.

Consumption is barely ever above 10W and I now have something closer to 9 hrs battery life :)

    84Wh battery.

    nvidia_g210m_acpi module loaded.

8W base consumption idling. Between 9 and 10 if just working and
    browsing a bit.

    ubuntu 9.10

Never used powertop, will try it though.

Never clocked it but I think I get around 7 hours out of it.

I configure it with nvidia_g210m_acpi.c of course, and
        powertop as soon as I
use it without AC (and obeying powertop blindly :) ).

        Consumption is around 9W.
