I had a similar issue and a friend of mine has suggested few steps that
apparently fixed the issue. There you go:

1- gksudo leafpad /etc/pm/config.d/config

2- SUSPEND_MODULES="your_driver"

As per this:

*-network
>       description: Wireless interface
>       physical id: 1
>       bus info: usb@1:5
>       logical name: wlan1
>       serial: 5c:d9:98:9e:57:ae
>       capabilities: ethernet physical wireless

SUSPEND_MODULES="*r8712u*"

3- Be sure to proofread carefully, save and close leafpad.


If the above steps did not help, please let me know so we can try another
steps.
