[Bug 1286788] Re: mir crashes after login

 

Sorry to hear. Unfortunately as Mir is under development, it is only
being maintained in the latest Ubuntu release (now 15.10 wily).

Also, Mir 0.1 in trusty is sixteen releases and 1.5 years behind current
Mir development(!)

If you would like to try the unity8 desktop session, please give Ubuntu 15.10 (not quite released yet) a go:
    http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/
Or just wait a week before it is officially released.

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 14.04 Tristy Thar.
  Was decided to try Mir installing it with:
  sudo apt-get install unity8-desktop-session-mir
  After reboot was tried to launch it through lightdm. Unfortunatelly Mir was crashed freezing system with some records in /var/log/lightdm/unity-system-compositor.log. Log recording is below:

  std::exception::what: Failed to create GBM device
