That's funky. Can you report this as a bug in bugs.launchpad.net?
Is it corrected if you try to run these commands?
xrandr --output LVDS --set BACKLIGHT_CONTROL legacy
xrandr --output LVDS --set BACKLIGHT_CONTROL native
