Hi acer users, on my Travelmate 8172 I don't have any wifi after upgrading to 12.04 (don't even see the available networks). I'm using kubuntu, and some system details I paste below. Unfortunately I have no idea what the most relevant information is ... Does wifi work nicely on your travelmates with 12.04? Any help appreciated! 01:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM43225 802.11b/g/n [14e4:4357] (rev 01)
My hearty recommendation is for you to take the Broadcom wifi card out, stomp it with a hammer and replace with an Atheros or Intel. It is insane how much of my life I had to waste in the 2.6.38 - 3.0 kernel version range trying to fight kernel panics on system resume.
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34682It is possible 3.1+ has improved, but Broadcom is what it is FOSS policy wise. It's just not worth the battle.
