I was looking in first for the webcam flip issue onI fi the main page
but I find a faster way to solve webcam flip issue

Clean previous libv4l* drivers with
sudo rm -fr /usr/lib*/libv4l* /usr/local/lib*/libv4l*

Download

For skype launch, LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype for skype

It works for me on karmic koala with a device with
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 064e:a136 Suyin Corp.
and UL30VT 1.0
