Hi Stefan,
I'm currently moving all our modules in new projects and branches. The
goal is to have common project in the community each each topic. I'll
make some suggestions regarding all domain we're working on.
One of them is the banking stuff (bank_statement). As you know, I
coded a different approach than yours to deal with that in our current
c2c-finantial-addons. I think both approach seems to be good,
depending on the need. Mine is more modular, when yours is more
complete. I even hope than once, we'll be able to merge those work
into a single module suites (at least I coded it with this in mind).
Hi Joël,
first of all, I am very sympathetic towards a single modular and
featureful project for OpenERP banking integration and I am pleasantly
surprized by your bold suggestion of bundling your initiative and the
Banking Addons. Thanks!
One practical problem does bother me. If the current Launchpad series
within the project would be renamed with a 'banking-addons-' prefix,
this would break compatibility with existing installations. For this
reason I would strongly prefer to keep the current series, but I see no
problem introducing such convention from 7.0 on. Introducing an
additional bank-statement-addons-6.1 series next to the existing series
should not be a problem either.
Another issue is the license of the Banking Addons, which is GPL. We
need permission from the original author Pieter Kersten to relicense as
AGPL in order to allow a merge with the Bank Statement addons.
Can we give the other members of the banking addons mailing list a
couple of days to react to your suggestion of having a
bank-statement-addons-6.1 series on the project and the intention to
merge both projects?
Cheers,
Stefan.
