Title:
  clicking "Sign In" appears to freeze Birdie

Status in Birdie:

Bug description:
  Though the login window does appear eventually, Birdie appears to hang
  while it loads. It should probably show a spinner immediately after
  clicking the button so that I know it's working in the background.
