Indeed, as you have suspected, the votes are not counted recursively.
That's something we are aware off (bug LP#211401 at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211401) and that will be worked upon.
As for your other request, I guess you can imagine that we can't
answer every single duplicate challenge...
