IMHO copying the delivery date will usually give a "wrong" date.
why would you order the same thing for the same date in a separate order ?
especially if the "date" might be in the past or to near to the order date.

Dear Ferdinand,
i agree with you. In real projects i made experience that this leads
sometimes to confusion. The proposed field should be the date (point of
view) to
calculate retrospective order date, expected delivery date of purchase
orders (do we have this field?),
manufacturing date.
The field delivery lead time is imho onla to print on a quotation to a
customer the timeframe we expect to deliver
the goods to customers location.
