This issue has reappeared again, you are right. 
As you can't actually save the value I will keep the importance Low, because it is more a presentation/usability issue.

Bug description:
Hi,

In user preferences window, in company field, always are all companies, if I have one user only can see one company, this field should be filtered. If i select company that my user can't see in this field, this company doesn't save in preferences, but I shouldn't be able to select it.
