the development as been made exactly like this.

Indeed, you will need to set as many carriers in openerp as shipping
methods in magento. The problem with your solution is that you will
loose the shipping method specification (like specific price,
priority... Your solution will need to create an object to map the
shipping method as well and it will be more complicated so it hasn't
been done as we hadn't the time to do it.

So we could do it but it hasn't been planned like this because of the
quantity of work.

I just tested the delivery carrier mapping from Magento to OpenERP with the revision http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~openlabs-akretion-consortium/magentoerpconnect/magentoerpconnect/revision/346

The condition to map the carrier is inverted, it will never be updated in OpenERP ;-)

Here is a patch with the correction.
