Did you see the "db cursor not closed properly" message, perhaps? It could be 
a bit further up at your server's logs and would explain hanging calls later 
on.

Bug description:
sometimes the server stops responding  on net-rpc / 8070 and pyro / 8071
access via xml-rpc / 8069 is possible

workaround - restart server
no error trace in server log
