After a login, the page has a lot of objects to load, especially if you installed a lot of widgets. If you click on a shortcut before all objects have loaded, the document is not ready yet. Since we add the link handlers in a jQuery('document').ready, the links have no handlers yet, so the link opens it's default action which is it's 'href'.
