It seems the problem lies in mail_gateway addon (more specifically in
the display_text functional field).

The _get_display_text method used to render the message as a string use
the tz but not the lang key of the context to format the date.

Using English (UK) set as language in web interface

In Opportunities -> History tab 
History-> Dates shown with actions are in US format

Confusingly if you then click on an action you see the date shown two times, but in different formats, one correct one, wrong
