thanks for looking into this

it's a usability issue
IMHO what usualy is needed is
* product_category_name
* code
* product_name
or
* product_category_name
* product_name
* code

I think Open ERP should be very flexible here

the only way to get a "usable" result now is to encode product category
name and name into "code" field

please foward this to the usability people

  Fix Released

Bug description:
  unfortunately in v6 the products are still sorted by template_id

to display the "first" n resource is complete waste of server-time , band width and user time !

this does not conform to what was discussed in various ergonomy forums,blueprints etc
