I vote "Invalid" for this bug: setup.py is not supposed to be a complete
system-wide setup solution, but merely a tool to place the _python_ files to
their correct location. The complete installation will be helped by some other
scripts, namely the RPM and DEB installers.

Title:
[6.0 trunk] [ubuntu 10.10] setup does not white necessary scripts
Status in OpenObject Server:
Triaged
Bug description:
there are a few scripts necessary for the server to function properly:
/etc/openerp-server.conf
/etc/init.d/openerp-server
which do not get created. also, the log file is missing
/var/log/openerp-server.log
Remark: unlike client and web client installations (which go into an
openerp.egg folder), the server gets into two folders openerp-server
and open...egginfo. maybe the three install should look the same
way...
