My version is 8.0.552.237 (70801) Ubuntu 10.10

I tried with a google chrome in windows with the same version and it
happens but It was caused beacuse ghrome blocked the edit view window.
Check at the right side of web direction bar if you have an blocked
window icon.

  "Manage views -> Edit" does not work in Google Chrome

Bug description:
  When I click "Manage views -> Edit", it closes the frame but doesn't open the new window for edition.
  Issue with Google Chrome.
