If the setup.py isn't working properly, it is indeed a bug and can be
reported here. But as xrg commented, in this case it is not up to the
setup.py to generate or install the mentioned files. So I close this
report as being invalid.

Title:
  [6.0 trunk] [ubuntu 10.10] setup does not white necessary scripts

Status in OpenERP Server:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  there are a few scripts necessary for the server to function properly:
  /etc/openerp-server.conf
  /etc/init.d/openerp-server
  which do not get created. also, the log file is missing
  /var/log/openerp-server.log

  Remark: unlike client and web client installations (which go into an
  openerp.egg folder), the server gets into two folders openerp-server
  and open...egginfo. maybe the three install should look the same
  way...
