Re: [Bug 877795] Re: Modifying a sales order

Kevin,

I know it looks the right thing to do to modify an SO but it isn't. A quick
example.

A sales order with 20 lines, of which 1 requires amending. You really want
to cancel all the related documents? IMO most users do not want this. What
if the user has no rights to access those documents? In fact cancel and
reset to draft is simply the wrong approach for modification.

Lets take the real cancellation example.

A sales order with 20 lines. Again, do you really want to cancel every
associated document. Probably not. Purchase Order shipments could be
received already, it might be decided to let orders run and have the items
in stock etc. Automating cancellation of downstream documents is not
generally applicable and would make OpenERP unusable for many, although in
MTO Manufacturing it makes sense in a few scenarios. But now how far do you
go, cancel the MO, what about the PO's created by the MO?

Title:
  Modifying a sales order

Status in OpenERP Addons (modules):
  Incomplete

Bug description:
To modify a sales order requires the associated picking to be
cancelled. But a sales order can also generate a PQ, MO or a task.
There is no check on these and if the relevant line is deleted/amended
from the SO the downstream document is not deleted/amended. Also, if
the SO line is left, a new downstream document is created.

A modification of a sales order should affect all downstream
documents, and their state will determine if the SO can be modified
(as it currently does for a picking list)
