[Bug 437219] Re: cairo dock with openGL and poulsbo drivers will make a black "blinking" window

Simply upgrade your system to Ubuntu Karmic in order to have a good
support of the OpenGL. These drivers were buggy but not now !

What do you mean ? On my old computer Cairo-Dock works perfectly with the cairo backend. It's slow but it uses CPU (but it uses fewer CPU).
So it's not buggy ! There isn't these effects specially made for OpenGL but it's not the same library.

Status in Cairo-Dock: New

Bug description:
Under Ubuntu Jaunty LPIA port with version version 2.1.0-rc3. Drivers are "psb" which are actually a hack from a non-maintained and source-closed driver from Intel.

But, metacity in compositing manager works well, and so compiz works (but very slowly, that"s why I prefer Metacity+compositing).

Under the old cairo engine, the dock is slow and buggy but displays almost normally.

Under the openGL engine, the dock is almost all into a black rectangle until the user mousemove over it. After that, the dock blink from the black rectangle to the normal display etc etc... But the dock (when it's visible) is very fast and display well the icons' animation !

I've send you the dump of the console in the cairo-dock's debug mode, I hope that will help :)

Greats !
