I tried left and right (top and bottom) align, but all with the same
result.

It seems that the dock recognizes the mouse click but it did not
calculate it to be on a specific icon. If the mouse is on an icon, the
hover-effect was shown and the icon becomes bigger, but a mouse click
was not calculated to the icon, but to the dock itself. I guess the 1.6x
version does that job better, but I haven't tried it with KDE 4.3.x.

Cairo-Dock is unusable if it is located on the left or right side of the screen. A click on the icons may or may not give any result. Most times a click is ignored. At the positions top and bottom Cairo-Dock worked fine.

I tested this on some of my computers with different graphic cards (NVidia 9500 GT, ATI X700, ...). All of the systems runs KDE 4.3.2. I tested it with version 2.0.7 too with the same result.
