I think it's rather a bug in GTK.
you can't decide where you'll place the grip (at least, there is nothing in the code that would add a grip anywhere).
maybe GTK is fooled by the fact that I pack the statusbar at the beginning in a HBox where I also pack some buttons at the end...

I'll invalid the bug here, and link it to GTK.

Bug description:
cairo-dock 2.1.3-0beta0.

In the configuration windows ,[in both the simple mode and the advanced mode] 
The resize grip is misplaced.

Further in the simple mode the resize grip seems "cut" and not displayed fully
