Can you check if you have the same error with a new account with the IMAP settings:
  * Server: imap.gmail.com
  * Port 993
  * With SSL
  * Login: your full Gmail email address
  * Folder: Inbox

  Using Cairo-Dock 3.0.0.0rc1 in Unity Environment (not Cairo session).

  Release 12.04 32-bit
  Kernel Linux 3.2.0-21-generic-pae

  I can successfully set up my pop account, but haven't been able to
  successfully set up gmail. It would appear to be a bug of some kind?
