Can you have a look to this bug rapport? I think you're still using a 32bits arch.
Maybe we can only use IMAP but I think IMAP is not enabled by default on GMail accounts.

  Using Cairo-Dock 3.0.0.0rc1 in Unity Environment (not Cairo session).

  Release 12.04 32-bit
  Kernel Linux 3.2.0-21-generic-pae

  I can successfully set up my pop account, but haven't been able to
  successfully set up gmail. It would appear to be a bug of some kind?
