@Patrick: can you try to reproduce the bug with the latest stable
version ( 3.0.0)? Now it should shows the desktop if there is a problem
with the action selected in the config panel.

Bug description:
  This is a minor quibble.

  When "Appear on Click" is chosen, the "Show Desktop" icon (unlike the
  launchers) no longer responds to a single click, but behaves like the
  sub-menus, requiring two clicks.
