I confirm that with the latest stable version 3.3.2 cairo-dock starts
and it works :)

there are some missing icons for things like KCalc and Konsole, but
that's not really an issue...

  error with cairo dock, crash with cairo dock plugin

Bug description:
  Hello, I report this bug only because it can be useful.
  I got minor problem with debian and mint.

  With Kde ArchLinux, it is crashing when I try to start it.
  Without cairo plugins I got errors but it works, after installing the plugins the errors are causing the crash.
  I have an Nvidia card, with Nvidia driver, Cairo also crashes with -c option.
  No alsamixer module loaded (I tried)
