[Question #707340]: Feedback on the Dell G16 7630 (Core i7-13650HX - GeForce RTX 4060) (202212-31030)
New question #707340 on Ubuntu-Certification:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+question/707340
Dear SIr/Madam,
How are you?
I recently bought a Dell G16 7630 (4060 and 13650HX, 16GB 4800MHz) laptop with win 11 preinstalled, since Ubuntu was not available in India (for some reason). However, for my work I bought an SSD (Samsung NVME 980 Pro 500GB) running on the updated firmware (so no ssd firmware issue unlike 2TB models). On it I installed Ubuntu 22.04 LTS happily, as I saw that my machine is certified by Ubuntu hoping it should not cause any issue for me. However, it keeps freezing - no mouse input, keyboard input, screen frozen and requires a hard reboot. This is frequent and I am not sure what to do. When I switch to Nvidia 4060, it doesnt freeze much but with 'On-demand', it does. I thought its graphics issue so I installed the 535 proprietary and tested driver. Regardless, this is getting annoying and I think this might damage my laptop.
What to do? Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks and best regards,
Abhinav
