[Bug 594140] Re: some sound volumes too low to hear
I have what I believe is a related problem in Maverick xubuntu.
My incoming call alert cannot be heard while everything else can.
I think this is because skype uses some system-wide alert sound system
to play the sound, which you can apparently change in the Ubuntu alert
sound settings (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1531112).
Anyone know what's going on here?
Unfortunately I am using Xubuntu, which has no system wide alert sounds,
or at least I can't find them. I don't know what to do with that, do I
file this bug against xubuntu in some way aswell?
A hackey work-around is to set, in skype options --> Notifications --> Incoming Call Ringing --> Advanced View --> Execute the following script (bottom one) and add something like:
'aplay /usr/share/skype/sounds/CallRingingIn.wav', which will play it normally
(you might need to install the alsa-utils package)
