Hi there, sorry it's taken me a bit to get back to you. I don't think
you'll get much success resolving the problem by updating the kernel
(unless the entire system locks up from the skype error - which it
doesn't sound like is the case). Unfortunately, I don't think there's
much we can do on the Ubuntu side of things to resolve this problem, its
a package that's in the partner repository and it seems like a fix would
require a patch, which I suspect we can't have an Ubuntu delta for.
You're best bet would be the skype folks, somebody over there will take
a look at your jira report eventually, it seems you've provided plenty
of debugging information for them.
