I've just seen this comment in the forum.

Looks like I'm not the only one.
I will try turning off the audio notifications.

Same here! Happens couple times a week. Maybe it's because of PAE
kernel, not sure.

The app maintainer seems to think it is a bug in the sound system or other parts of linux.
I hope the combination of my ubuntu bug reports and skype bug reports
help.
