[Bug 1010390] Re: Since upgrading to 12.04 flash player does not work in either Firefox or Chrome. No method suggested works including reinstalling Ubuntu 12.04. I also find it impossible to update Java which Firefox says it has stopped because it is out of date. update
I have finally succeeded in solving this problem by searching for 'flash
players for ubuntu 12.04'. This should bring up the page '10 things to
Do After Installing Ubuntu 12.04' on the website www.omgubuntu.co.uk
Scroll down the page and click on 'Download Google Chrome for Linux'.
This is a .deb file
I then used Synaptic Package Manager to remove the original browser and
also all/any flashplugins completely including configuration files.
I then double clicked on the downloaded .deb file which the update
manager obligingly then installed.
Google Chrome now plays both iplayer and utube video clips. Haven't
tried out Firefox but I suspect it might not work for that.
