Annoyingly, for the past week I hadn't had this problem at all. (Well,
good for me, but annoying for bug-fixing purposes). I've just upgraded
to 4.0 today, and it seems to be fine, but I don't know if that's
because it's actually fixed, or if it's just that whatever changed a
week ago meant I'm no longer affected.

Sorry that isn't more helpful. All I can do is report back if it ever
starts happening again.
