Had the same problem and was able to solve it by installing the 32bit
version of the libasound2-plugin module:

  sudo apt-get install libasound2-plugins:i386

It seems it is a problem of some missing files in the 64bit version (or
respectively of some files that are not needed any more in the 64bit
version but nevertheless used by skype)
