+ WORKAROUND: In Trusty, install wine1.7 from Wine PPA
+ https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa and install Adobe Reader
+ 9.5.0 Windows 7 English from www.adobe.com/reader.

+ Attempted failed work arounds for Trusty amd64:
+ 1) It crashes consistently Installing package nspluginwrapper, then download and install:
+ https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acroread/9.5.5-1raring1/+build/4580418/+files/acroread_9.5.5-1raring1_amd64.deb
