Yes, I expect getting the mesa MRE permanent shouldn't be a huge deal,
but it'll be worth the review.

Agreed.
If you are preparing an xserver for 12.04, can you include the patch for
#1002788 with that? The upstream commit is identified, it just needs
packaged (and tested).
