for now this is fine, but just to remember...
I think the right solution is just to add pylint to the tox target for integration tests.
then run pylint inside that.
or maybe its just easier to duplicate it and have a citest-pylint tox target.

hm.. user-data=None is quite specifically differerent than user-data=b''
if you provide an empty string to their api as user-data, then the user-data key will (correctly) appear in their metadata service and will have a zero byte entry in it.
if you provide None, then there is no user-data key in the md at all.

Chad,
how would your suggestion work if c-i was running two different test invocations at the same time?

would'nt one then delete or replace the others key?  I am not sure what would happen, but I can't imagine anything would work as expected.
