Not only does the showdesktop plugin have the exact same problem, it
also behaves totally differently from Metacity, by sliding the windows
to the sides of the screen instead of minimizing them.

So no, the proper fix is not the showdesktop plugin.  Fix the toggle
functionality in both plugins, so they behave as expected when some
windows are not shown and others are shown.
