[Bug 457139] [NEW] Metacity: when closing a window, the next window is not activated properly

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: metacity

When a window is being closed, often no other window is activated by
Metacity - not window receives the "active window" colors, no window
responds to metacity keyboard shortcuts (ALT-F4, ALT-Space, etc) and the
keyboard focus is unclear at best.

To reproduce:
1. With Metacity being the window manager (default on GNOME) open a nautilus file browser, and open some file using another application (make sure it opens up the new application and does not just loads the selected file in an existing app).
2. close the new application.

What should happen: The file browser window should be activated as can
be seen by the title bar color, and a subsequent ALT-F4 should close the
file manager.

What actually happens: The file browser is not activated, and ALT-F4
does nothing.

As for the keyboard focus, it looks like Metacity reverts to "focus
follows mouse" - if you have no other window on the workspace except the
file browser then using the mouse keys would navigate between the files
in the file browser window if the mouse is over that window, and between
the files on the desktop if the mouse if over the desktop area.
