[Bug 368722] [NEW] Desktop Effects don't work

Hi,
I installed  Ubuntu 9.04 on a clean partition(formated from the install). Everything went well, but when I tried to change the Visual Effects from None to Normal or Extra I get the following message: Desktop effects could not be enabled.
This is the second time it happened. On the release day of 9.04 I installed it and got the same error while trying to enable desktop effects.

My machine is a Dell Inspiron 1525 notebook.
