This doesn't appear to be a compiz problem, I'm getting the same
flickering when totem gets or loses window focus with and without compiz
running. I noticed that the flickering only occurs when the "video area"
of the totem window is selected.

Flickering:
- start totem and let it play a video, click once on the video area
- focus another window -> flickering
- focus totem -> flickering

Not flickering:
- start totem and let it play a video, click anywhere in the playlist once (or highlight the youtube/properties/... dropdown menu)
- focus another window -> no flickering
- focus totem -> no flickering

This can also be reproduced by clicking once on the video area of totem,
then the playlist, then the video part again etc.

Totem 2.29.91-0ubuntu2 on Intel graphics.
