Ehm, I'm not sure if this is the right bug but I experience the same
problem, installed compiz-gnome and now it almost works. It's only that
when compiz is enabled there is only one window-decorator-theme. I don't
really now which one it is but is has vey big icons, similar to
"metabox", changing theme in "Appearance preferences" has no effect.

Before installing compiz-gnome I got this when trying to start compiz:
"Couldn't find a perfect decorator match; trying all decorators".

Any help highly appreciated.
