[Bug 517942] Re: water effect not working
OK, here's my solution - it worked for me: uninstalled the proprietary
fglrx driver, upgraded to kernel 2.6.34-lucid release, installing the
binary kernel, linux-headers, and all-deb packages, then enabled the
xorg-edgers archive ppa and upgraded the open source video driver.
Enabled dynamic power management in the kernel boot parameters, and now
water effect is here in all it's glory and the video card runs at a
reasonable speed - minimal fan noise, not running all out, not hot. If
you need more specifics, just holler.
