I manually added the repository and upgraded to Open Office
1:3.2.1-5ubuntu, with no resolution.

Then I downloaded the latest Open Office development snapshot 3.3.0 (build 9519) .debs and I am still having this issue.
compiz: 0.8.4
ubuntu: 10.04
kernel: 2.6.32-24
