I wanted to try the new Unity interface, so I downloaded the .iso file
for Ubuntu 10.10, and created a bootable USB drive. But when I selected
"Try Ubuntu Netbook" when I booted from the USB drive, I got a blank
screen (the wallpaper and the mouse pointer). I was confused and after a
few searchs, I found that 3D graphics acceleration are not enabled in my
computer. But the Release Notes
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MaverickMeerkat/ReleaseNotes#Known%20Issues) it
says that I should be warned about not having the required hardware
configuration and log out and then log in to a standard ubuntu desktop
session. I never saw that error message, and that is very confusing for
a new user.

Graphic card (lspci): VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc
RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series], on a Dell Inspiron 1721. In Ubuntu 10.04 I
use the default drivers.
