Good call.  You're correct.  Metacity is running, and I can replace it
with compiz --replace.

When I look at /desktop/gnome/applications/window_manager, compiz is
listed as the default, but that's a deprecated key.  Looking at
/desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager shows the
incorrect value of metacity.  This is definitely NOT a change I made.

I also had to go into CCSM and adjust the Desktop size to 4 column 1 row
because something changed it to 2x2 for Compiz (metacity still had 4x1).
