I can still repeat this with compiz 1:0.9.4+bzr20110415-0ubuntu2 simply
by closing any window while it's MT handles are still activated (you
need to use a keyboard shortcut of some kind to close the window, e.g.
Alt-F4, or Ctrl-d in a terminal window).

I'm adding a gdb stack trace that will hopefully provide the needed
info.
