I can say for sure that this is a software issue. I had my cursor on a
dead-zone as I was logging off, and during the program closing sequence
(my system's quite slow ). the dead zone dissapeared shortly before
logout out of the desktop. I'm on an Asus M50SV but I don't think
hardware matters with this bug! perhaps related to unity?
