In several applications, there is a clearly noticeable lag between the
time you hit a key and the time that the character is drawn in a text
field.  Since upgrading to Natty, due to the lag, I have noticed that it
is easier to erase one too many characters when repeatedly hitting
backspace.

It feels like I am typing on a remote machine with a slow network or
like I'm typing on a machine with high load average.  But I am not.  I
am on a local machine, the load average is 0.02, and I have a 6-core
processor.

I have observed this behavior in Firefox, Google Chrome, and gedit, so
it appears to affect multiple applications.  It does not seem to affect
typing in Terminal.
