I think I'm also affected by this bug. I'm running on a desktop system
with an  ATI Radeon HD 5670. The symptoms I'm experiencing aren't a
complete hang -- the mouse cursor still works as do the Ctrl-Alt-F*
combinations to flip to the console, but the whole screen is black
(except for a small rectangle in the lower-right corner, but even that
is unresponsive).

I've upgraded fglrx to the PPA version (2:8.850-0ubuntu1~xup2~natty) but
it doesn't seem to help.
